Call for Proposal – Research and Innovation Bridges

Under the Research and Innovation Bridges (RIB), a local company in partnership with an international company/Research institution can submit applications for innovative, collaborative research and development projects with commercial potential.
 
Objective of any project should be to:
 
  • To improve competitiveness of the company through a collaboration between Research and Industry.
  • To develop a new/ improved product, process, and/or technique.
 
Eligibility
 
It is mandatory to have at least two (2) partners for any application: one (1) from the private sector and one (1) from an international company/research institution. The main applicant must be the private sector company and it should be registered for at least one year in the Republic of Mauritius.
 
The two partners may include other local/international collaborators from either the private sector or the academia/research.
 
Funding
 
Successful applicants may be awarded a matching grant up to Rs 10 million.
 
Priority Areas
 
The current focus of the Call for Proposal is on Health Care: Medicine, Medical Solutions, Mental Health, Diseases, Treatment, Therapy, Laboratory & Diagnosis Care, Nutrition, Wearable Health Products, Preventive Care, Dental Care, Pharmaceutical, and DNA. However, applications, in line with the following priority areas, will also be accepted: (1) Renewable Energy (2) Ocean/Marine Technology, Resources and Services (3) ICT/BPO/Telecommunications (4) Life Sciences and (5) Manufacturing
 
Expression of Interest
 
Potential Applicants may discuss their ideas with the MRC staff prior to submission of their application.. 
 
Applications have to be submitted to the Council using the appropriate templates and in line with the RIB Guidelines found below. Each application must include (1) the completed application form, (2) a proposal outlining the details of the project, (3) a signed Agreement between collaborating bodies, (4) CVs of project leader and key collaborators and (5) Audited Financial Statements (where applicable).

Effective Date
 
Under this scheme, applications can be submitted any time during the year.  Awards will be made on the merits of the proposal and on a competitive basis.
 
All applications should be forwarded to the Officer-in-Charge of the MRC clearly labeled “Call for Proposals–RIB” on the top right-hand side.
