CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council is introducing the Rodrigues Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (RRIGS), a new funding scheme in line with the National Innovation Initiative being spearheaded by the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation (MoTCI). The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation is inviting prospective applicants to submit proposals under the Rodrigues Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (RRIGS). The RRIGS has been formulated to promote research and innovation in Rodrigues and to address the specificities of Rodrigues.
 
All institutions, organizations, cooperatives, enterprises and non-governmental organizations registered in Rodrigues, as well as Commissions and/or Departments falling under the aegis of the different Commissions of the RRA are eligible under this Scheme. Proposals are selected for funding based on their potential research and innovation value and their relevance to the priority areas of Rodrigues.
 
An indicative list of priority areas for potential proposals is as follows:
 
  • Ocean and Marine Resources,
  • Environment
  • Manufacturing
  • Agro-industry and Bio-farming,
  • ICT, Renewable Energy and Emerging Sectors,
  • Social sciences.
 
Note: This is only an indicative list, any proposal which does not fall into this list, but which is deemed to be highly relevant for Rodrigues can be considered.
 
Funding
 
The maximum grant allocated to successful applicants is Rs 800 000 per project, with a maximum duration of 24 months.
 
Expression of Interest
 
Prospective applicants are requested to forward their proposals to the Council using appropriate templates and guidelines which can be downloaded from the MRIC Website.
 
Only applications/proposals which are submitted to the Council using appropriate templates and guidelines will be considered.
 
Effective Date and Deadline
 
All applications should be addressed to the Executive Director of the MRIC in an envelope clearly labelled “Call for Proposals –RRIGS” on the top right-hand side at latest by 26th March 2021 at 15.00hrs. Awards will be made on the merits of the proposal and on a competitive basis.
