National Research Week

Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research and coordinated by the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), the National Research Week serves as a flagship national platform dedicated to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among higher education institutions, research organisations, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society.

It provides a strategic interface where academia, industry, and society converge to co-create innovative and sustainable solutions to address national and global challenges.

The National Research Week pursues the following key objectives:

  • To promote interdisciplinary collaboration by strengthening partnerships among academic institutions, research bodies, and industry stakeholders.

  • To showcase cutting-edge research and innovation by offering a platform for researchers and innovators to present their work to a wider audience.

  • To drive economic growth and sustainability by aligning research outcomes with industry needs, thereby enabling the development of new products, services, and technologies.

  • To inform evidence-based policymaking by leveraging insights generated during the Week to bridge the gap between research, industry, and governance.

National Research Week 2025

The National Research Week 2025 was successfully held from Monday 14 April to Friday 18 April 2025 under the purview of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, under the theme “Uniting Research, Industry, and Innovation.”

Over the course of five days, the event featured 145 research abstract presentations, 8 keynote addresses, and 6 panel discussions. A total of 169 certificates were awarded to presenters, keynote speakers, panellists, and moderators, reflecting the breadth and depth of participation.

Following the successful publication of the proceedings in September 2025, the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) was once again entrusted by the Ministry to coordinate the organisation of the National Research Week 2026.
