Special call for proposals was developed by the MRIC to respond to a growing need for sector focused funding. This need was further entrenched by the economic crisis created by COVID19 pandemic. Four (4) such calls were launched in the past two (2) years.    

Enterprise Innovation Booster Scheme

The Enterprise Innovation Booster Scheme, launched in March 2021, aims at helping Mauritian companies grow, transform and be better equipped through innovation for the future and for the global market. As a result of this call, 7 projects were approved for funding for an amount of Rs 11.0 M.

Special Call for Applications – Fast Track Innovation Initiatives

The Fast Track Innovation Scheme (FII) was launched in March 2021. This scheme had as aim to support short term innovative projects in thematic areas such as Fintech, Blockchain, AI, Circular Economy, Smart Agriculture and Inclusive Innovation. As a result of this call, 15 projects were approved for funding for an amount of Rs 12.1 M.

Special Call for Proposals – Building Blue Resilience through Innovation

The Special Call for Proposals – Building Blue Resilience through Innovation was launched in October 2020 as a means to support innovative endeavours aiming at mitigating impacts from the Wakashio Oil Spill. As a result of this call, 18 projects were approved for funding for an amount of Rs 26.1 M.

Special Call for Proposals - Fast-track innovative projects to counter the impacts of COVID-19

The Special Call for Proposals- COVID19 was launched in April 2020 to encourage entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, enterprises and start-ups implement short- and medium-term projects that aim at improving and accelerating the Government’s response to the challenges posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and eventually contribute to counter the impacts and planning beyond of this deadly pandemic.  As a result of this call, 26 projects were approved for funding for an amount of Rs 17.2 M.
