Public Sector Transformation Scheme

The aim of this scheme is to facilitate the interaction of companies including start-ups with the public sector, in view of promoting public sector transformation initiatives that address current service delivery, processes and policy challenges.

The initiative for the Public Sector Transformation Scheme was announced in the Budget Annex 2020 – 2021 (Budget Measures, Explanatory Notes, Main Provisions to be included in The Finance (MiscelIaneous Provisions) Bill 2020; Part B – Other Budget Measures; B.5. Digital Transformation):

  • a Public Sector Transformation Scheme will be introduced by the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) to encourage innovative companies and start-ups to develop applications for the public sector.

This scheme is aimed at supporting innovative collaborative projects that test new approaches/technologies by start-ups and companies for improving processes and enhancing service delivery in the public sector.

 

The priority areas are as follows: 

  • Price Monitoring Application; 

  • Chatbot to assist and direct public on the Ministry's services (e.g Schemes) as well as handling complaints;

  • Development of a system to monitor medical equipment at the level of public health institutions [under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Wellness]; 

  • Development of a Mobile Application to enhance customer satisfaction for the Assay Office;

  • Creating an interactive e-platform on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law;

  • Queue Management System

 

Applicants may also submit applications for other potential areas for which they have secured collaboration.

Deadline for applications has been extended to: Friday, 14 May 2021 for funding of up to MUR 2 Million.
