The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation has the pleasure of inviting you or your representative to the Validation Workshop of “Les Assises de la Recherche et de L’Innovation 2022”.
Following completion of Phase 1 (ARI 2022 Mauritius) and Phase 2 (RodInov 2022), the last phase of this initiative is the validation workshop, whereby the full report and its recommendations along with the MRIC’s strategic plan will be validated.

Global Innovation Index (GII)
The 2022 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII) presented the latest global innovation ranking of 132 economies on 29th September 2022, relying on 81 different indicators, with Mauritius improving its rank from 52nd position in 2021 to 45th position in 2022 overall and still 1st among Sub-Saharan African nations.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, only Mauritius (45th) and South Africa (61st) rank among the top 80. Mauritius ranks highest within the Subsaharan Africa region in Institutions (22nd), Infrastructure (70th), Market sophistication (16th), and Creative outputs (31st). It leads worldwide in Venture capital deals (1st), and performs notably well in Trademarks (15th), ICT services imports (20th) and New businesses (20th). . WIOCC, a Mauritius-based company, received USD 200 million of venture capital that will be used to enhance Africa’s digital infrastructure by expanding connectivity and open access data centers.
